I feel great! This morning, I received a pleasant delivery notification text.
Wow, waiting for a package is always so exciting, right? I also shop online often.
Right. In Korea, parcel delivery is very fast and convenient. It comes to your door, and you can pick it up at convenience stores.
I actually find it convenient to have it left at my front door.
But for expensive items or shoes, picking them up in person at a convenience store is much safer!
Come to think of it, you're right! Picking it up directly at a convenience store means no worries about losing it.
That's right! So today, we prepared expressions used when picking up parcels and packages.
When you go to a store or counter, the first thing you say is, "택배 찾으러 왔어요" (I'm here to pick up a package).
When they ask whose package it is, secondly, you say, "제 이름으로 왔어요" (It came under my name).
When showing the arrival message, thirdly, you say, "문자 보여드릴게요" (I'll show you the text message).
When identity verification is needed, fourthly, you hand it over saying, "신분증 여기 있어요" (Here is my ID).
When asking where to write your name, fifthly, you ask, "어디에 서명해요?" (Where do I sign?).
When checking delivery fees, sixthly, you ask, "얼마 내야 해요?" (How much do I need to pay?).
They are truly essential expressions in daily life, right?

It was last Thursday evening. I was waiting for new running shoes bought online.
Ah, the cool blue running shoes you bought to wear over the weekend, right?
Yes! But while at work, a delivery message from the courier arrived.
When you get a delivery text at work, you can't wait until clocking-out time.
Right. After work, I walked quickly to the convenience store. I opened the door and walked inside.
When opening the convenience store door, thinking about meeting your new shoes, your steps must have been so light!
Smiling brightly in front of the counter, I said, "택배 찾으러 왔어요" (I'm here to pick up a package).
The clerk must have welcomed you warmly! I'm always like that when going to the convenience store too.
Yes, the clerk asked for the name. So I replied, "제 이름으로 왔어요" (It came under my name).
Right. Because there are many customers at convenience stores, you have to state your name clearly and distinctly.
However, behind the counter, there were so many boxes. The clerk looked at the shelves, looking a bit confused.
That's right, when boxes are piled up high, the parcel tracking number is the most reliable.
Right. So I turned on my phone, said "문자 보여드릴게요" (I'll show you the text message), and showed the number on screen.
Once they see the number on screen, the clerk can find it right away without wandering around.

Great! Now shall we look closely at each of the six expressions?
The first expression is, "택배 찾으러 왔어요" (I'm here to pick up a package). Use it to state the reason you came when arriving at a store or counter.
"택배" means delivered goods, and "찾으러 왔어요" means you came to collect it.
The second expression is, "제 이름으로 왔어요" (It came under my name). Use it to let them know whose name the item is under.
When picking it up on behalf of a friend, you can also say "친구 이름으로 왔어요" (It came under my friend's name).
The third expression is, "문자 보여드릴게요" (I'll show you the text message). Use it when showing a barcode or tracking number on screen.
If you show the screen, the clerk can find it much faster and more accurately.
The fourth expression is, "신분증 여기 있어요" (Here is my ID). Use it when identity verification is needed and you hand it over.
You can also use it very naturally when showing your alien registration card or passport.
The fifth expression is, "어디에 서명해요?" (Where do I sign?). Use it when asking where to sign on the pad or paper.
It is an essential expression when writing your name on digital pads or paper slips.
The sixth expression is, "얼마 내야 해요?" (How much do I need to pay?). Use it when asking about storage or cash-on-delivery fees.
If you ask how much to pay first, it is easy to prepare your card or cash.
All six expressions are short and easy, so we can memorize them right away!
